Isheri kidnap: Police recover two houses from suspect

Another suspected member of a gang that abducted the Secretary, Isheri North Estate Residents Association, Lagos State, and killed three security guards has been arrested by the police.
It was learnt that the suspect, 38-year-old Joseph Omoni, was apprehended in one of his houses in Ogijo, Ogun State, by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team.
The police said Omoni confessed to participating in the attack and collecting N250,000 from a N5m ransom collected from the freed landlord, Mr. Dayo Adekoya.

PUNCH Metro had reported that the assailants stormed Adekoya’s residence around 12.30am on Thursday and seized him at gunpoint.
Our correspondent gathered on Wednesday that Omoni was trailed to Ogijo by the IRT operatives, led by ACP Abba Kyari.
A police source said, “Operatives kept the creeks under surveillance after the landlord was released. They got a tip-off that two members of the gang, Omoni, and one other known as Chairman, were around the Ogijo area of Ogun State. They were trailed to the location where Omoni was apprehended, but Chairman escaped. Two buildings belonging to the gang member were seized.”
Omoni, in his statement to the police, said, “We were more than 20 in the camp and I got N250,000 from the N5m ransom. It was Stone and Chairman who shot the Estate security guards because they wanted to stop our operation.”
The Force spokesman, CSP Moshood Jimoh, confirmed the arrest and seizure.
