What's New In Android 7.1.1 Nougat.

The latest Android operating system code-named Nougat and known to others as Android 7.1.1 has been sent as an OTA(over the air) update to some android one devices, the likes of Google pixel, Nexus e.t.c. The Android 7.1.1 update is yet to be available on most top smartphone brands but we're sure before the end of Q1 of 2017,nearly all flagship smartphones will have the update.

We're going to run an analysis of the new features Android 7.1.1 packs along in it's goody bag, for some unknown reasons, Google has decided not to make a list of the changes you are to expect as a Pixel user that's on the Android Nougat operating system. An average user that just updated his device from Marshmallow to Nougat will have the impression that Google didn't bother to add any new features, they just probably wanted a new name for their software, they are somewhat right because the new OS looks just like the Marshmallow. Let me run you through the new Nougat features in a couple of paragraphs, shall we?

➤ Double tap to wake : It seems Google rushed the production of the Pixel and Pixel XL making them forget to add the most important feature that makes our power button stay in play a little longer, the double tap to wake feature. The new update brings on board the double tap to wake function, to activate this on your Pixel smartphone, simply navigate to settings then "moves", the rest is self explanatory.

➤ The baseband and kernel update in the new Android OS resolves the unstable Band 5 connectivity related issues some Pixel users are battling with.

➤ Lift to check phone : This feature is simply the Ambient display function under a new name. What this does is to allow you check your new notifications as soon as you lift your smartphone off a surface, the screen goes into a power friendly grayscale mode to allow you have longer up-time with your device.

Other notable changes includes minor bug fixes and camera related complaints.
