On Friday night, Big Brother Naija housemate Mercy dropped a major bombshell about her love life while discussion with her fellow housemate, Elozonam. 

During the discussion, she revealed that she was dating former Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Emenike before he got married to ex-beauty Queen Iheoma Nnadi. 

According to her, the footballer, who she claimed loved her later left her because she was a "nobody" at that time which was understandable.

Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo while speaking about the need for more factual reporting at a dinner organised by the state house communications team for head of media practitioners in Abuja shared a video catalogue of memes about him and President Buhari.  

“I see quite a few memes that “roast” me on social media and to be honest, I find some of them creative and funny. For example, it appears every photograph of me talking to the President must be characterized as though I am saying something mischievous” he wrote.

Woman kills own baby


A 40-year-old woman, Foluke Omolewa, has been arrested by policemen from the Ogun State Command for allegedly killing her day old baby.
Omolewa was reported to have claimed she killed the baby because her husband could not afford to cater to any child due to economic hardship.

It was gathered that Atiku, though a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, was already tinkering with the idea of returning to his former party if he would not be allowed to contest the ticket in his current party.
He is said to be considering other options on the premise that President Muhammadu Buhari might want to run for a second term.
In the event that he would not, the President would also be expected to “anoint” his successor in the party.
Though Atiku had denied plans to leave the APC, sources in the PDP, however, said Atiku’s hand could be felt in the current moves to reposition the former ruling party.

South African Investor Laps up Zenith, Access Bank Shares


Allan Gray Ltd., the largest manager of non-government investment funds in Africa, has increased its stake in Zenith and Access Banks.
The South African investor, based in Cape Town, is betting on Nigeria’s banking industry despite poor performances by the oil companies it depends on and widespread calls for the naira to be further devalued, reported Bloomberg yesterday.

Ben Enwonwu’s Bronze Sculpture, Anyanwu, Auctions for Record £353,000 at Bonhams


A full-size cast of the bronze sculpture, Anyanwu, by iconic Nigerian painter and sculptor, the late Prof. Benedict Chukwukadibia Enwonwu, was auctioned for a record £353,000 (N138.4 million) at Bonhams, the renowned international auction house, in London yesterday.
Information made available on Bonhams’ website after Anyanwu’s auction showed that the sculpture measuring 236 x 71 x 45cm (6ft 10 inches high) was placed on the block at an estimated price of £150,000 – £200,000, but was auctioned to a new owner for £353,000.

President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara; and some principal officers of the National Assembly are currently in the United Kingdom to visit President Muhammadu Buhari, who is on medical leave.
The National Assembly leaders left Nigeria for London today, it was learnt.

Isheri kidnap: Police recover two houses from suspect


Another suspected member of a gang that abducted the Secretary, Isheri North Estate Residents Association, Lagos State, and killed three security guards has been arrested by the police.
 It was learnt that the suspect, 38-year-old Joseph Omoni, was apprehended in one of his houses in Ogijo, Ogun State, by operatives of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team.
The police said Omoni confessed to participating in the attack and collecting N250,000 from a N5m ransom collected from the freed landlord, Mr. Dayo Adekoya.

A painter, Mr. Ese Akpan, had told his family on Tuesday that he was going out to get the money owed him by a construction company.
 He, however, did not get to his destination, as he was killed by a stray bullet from a police team escorting a bullion van to a bank.
According to a Closed-Circuit Television camera, which captured the scene, Ese was shot at exactly 1.45pm on Old Aba Road, Rumuomasi, Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.
PUNCH Metro, which obtained footage of the incident, observed that Camera 4 captured Ese as he walked along the road while the police van came behind.
